Scott became my Executive Officer in November 1990 during the Desert Shield/Desert Storm timeframe and I need an Executive Officer immediately. So Leslie and Scott moved to Schweinfurt on Thanksgiving Day. I think Leslie still holds a grudge for that move! We spent countless days in the field training where his leadership an d professionalism were evident daily. But in the midst of this hectic time, we had many memorable moments. Leslie would send "our" favorite snack to him when we were gone...M&M peanuts. We both loved coffee so my driver would pull out my stove whenever we had a break and make a pot of coffee for us. I velcroed my cup to the dash of my vehicle so Pete did the same. One weekend back in Schweinfurt, I called Scott but he didn't answer but I could see his cars in his driveway so I went over to his quarters. He called out that they need help in the basement. It was flooding! Julie and I helped empty the basement to the lawn. Big mess. Leslie thanked me again for their move to Schweinfurt. We were in charge of two Field Artillery Balls with 500 people attending. When Julie and I were out of town, our 14 year old daughter needed a ride home from school because she was on crutches so Scott said he would get her. He pulls up at the school in his Porsche! Holly was VERY happy to show off a little getting in that car. Many parties and even more quiet times sharing stories of growing up in rural America, college and other assignments. Julie, Leslie, Scott and I had so many enjoyable times together. Trips to Hawaii, San Diego and Colorado. Scott's picture hangs on my wall. Miss him everyday.
