Leonard Buckwalter's Obituary
Leonard Buckwalter, 95 of Leesburg, Virginia passed on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Born Monday, February 3, 1930 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Max Buckwalter and the late Estelle Schoenbaum Buckwalter.
Leonard graduated from New York University in 1952. After graduation he was drafted by the US Army reaching the rank of corporal. During the Korean War he was stationed in Japan designing and installing crucial communications networks. Returning home he spent his professional writing career in consumer electronics and aviation, founding Avionics Magazine and Avionics.com, an online book publishing venture. An avid general aviation pilot with over 4,000 hours, he enjoyed flying out of Leesburg Airport near his home.
Leonard leaves his family to cherish his memory, including his wife of 38 years, Mary Harwood Buckwalter, son, David Buckwalter (Lorre), daughter, Valerie Gordon (Russell), stepson, Stephen Hardwood and grandchildren, Sophia, Max. and Ella.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley Buckwalter and Jerry Buckwalter.
Services will be handled privately.
