Leonard Wilt Jr.'s Obituary
Leonard Wilt Jr., 93, of Lovettsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026.
Born on October 15, 1932, in Taylorstown, Virginia, Leonard spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Leonard Wilt Sr.; his brother, Rudy Wilt; and his grandson, Seth Noel.
In his youth, Leonard met the love of his life, Barbara, and they were married in January 1953, sharing more than 73 years of love and devotion. Shortly after their marriage, Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, including 19 months stationed in Germany specializing in ballistic meteorology.
After returning home, Leonard and Barbara built a loving family, raising four children: Michael, David, Danny, and Tina. He worked as a carpenter before beginning a more than 30-year career with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, serving the communities of Lovettsville, Leesburg, and Paeonian Springs, Virginia. He also operated a successful fur trade business and was an avid outdoorsman.
As a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Leonard faithfully shared his time and talents.
Leonard is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his four children and their spouses; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, with one more— baby Leonard—on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
