Leslie Clinton Miller's Obituary
Leslie Clinton Miller, 94, long-time resident of Strasburg, Virginia and resident of Haymarket, Virginia since 2005, died suddenly on Thursday, May 26, 2011 in Lansdowne, VA. Mr. Miller was born in Lebanon Church, Virginia on February 11, 1917 to the late William Clinton and Ernie Mowery Miller.
Mr. Miller grew up on the family farm learning amazing gardening skills that will be remembered by many. He studied agriculture and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. After completing High School, he worked as an Auto Mechanic at Shenandoah Valley Lime & Stone Corp. in Strasburg, VA. Along with this, he was a very talented and creative man, skilled in carpentry with the innate ability to build. Even until his death, he spent hours in his workshop constructing and creating many different things.
Mr. Miller served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army with L Company, 358th Infantry, 90th Division as a Staff Sergeant from November 1943 to March 1946. During WWII he participated in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns in the European Theatre. Upon returning home after the war, he worked as an auto mechanic and, in 1964, built, owned and operated Northside Garage in Lebanon Church, VA. He operated Northside Garage until retiring in 2000. During this time, he continued to work on the family farm.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong member of the Strasburg Christian Church, serving in leadership roles including Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Secretary and Superintendent for many years.
Mr. Miller is survived by his niece Linda Miller of Haymarket and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside services with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday July 27th 2011 at 11:00am.
