Lewis Gerald Barton's Obituary
LEWIS GERALD BARTON, 54, a resident of Lovettsville, VA since 1983, died on Sunday August 5, 2007 in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Barton was born September 3, 1952 in Blakely, Georgia to Mrs. Kathleen Jeanette (Sims) and the late Lewis Leon Barton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Lexington ported in Pensacola, FL before his discharge in 1979. Mr. Barton retired after 35 years of government service in February 2007 from the General Service Administration. He attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Lovettsville. Mr. Barton was an avid fisherman and gardener. During the early 1990’s he volunteered with the Lovettsville Vol. Fire and Rescue.
Mr. Barton is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rhonda Dennise (Hickman) Barton of Lovettsville; mother: Kathleen Jeanette Sims Barton of Columbus, GA; one daughter: Lisa Michelle Barton of Las Vegas, NV; five sisters: Jimmie (Roger) Manning of Montgomery, AL, Jan (Wayne) Lumpkin, Lois (Eddie) Creamer, Mary (Ed) Ray, Hazel (Robert) Hicks all of Columbus, GA; Father-in-law: Ernest Hickman of Lovettsville; loving friends: Jean Jones and Barbara Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel 34 E Broad Way, Lovettsville, VA on Wednesday August 8, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday August 9, at the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Lutheran Church Road, Lovettsville, VA with Pastor Joel Guttormson and Rev. G. Andreas Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Lovettsville Union Cemetery.
