Lida Mae Stapleton
On June 7, 2017, Lida Mae Stapleton of Charles Town, WV. passed away from pneumonia. She was 94 years of age, a beloved Mother and Grandmother. Lida Mae is survived by her daughters Sandra Lynn Thomas, and Patti Jean Gregory, 3 sisters Dixie Kinker, Glenda Turner, and Lois Shispanski, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her daughter Lathalia Paige Jones and her son Spencer Mac Gregory, 3 brothers Glen, Aubrey, and Avery Sewell, and 2 sisters Edna Powell and Elizabeth Bell. Lida Mae was born on March 29, 1923 in Hyde County, NC. She moved to Alaska in 1962 and stayed there 24 years before moving back home to Swan Quarter, NC in 1986. She was a member of the Culinary Union and worked on the Alaska Pipeline until she retired. She enjoyed being on the water fishing and spending time with her family. She particularly loved watching and playing with her grandchildren. In 2009 she moved to Charles Town, WV to live with her daughter and son in-law. She liked crocheting, quilting, playing cards, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. Her love and dedication to family was truly wonderful. There will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends at her home on June 24th at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
