Lillie Claiborne's Obituary
LILLIE B. CLARK CLAIBORNE, 84, Longtime resident of Ashland, Virginia went home to be with her Lord on March 26th 2013 in Leesburg, Virginia.
Mrs. Claiborne was born April 18th 1928 in Beaver Dam, Virginia to the late George W. and Leslie Houston Clark. Her husband, Melvin Hugh Claiborne, Sr. and seven sibling, Bertha C. Latney, Lorene C. Harris, Elnora C. Winston, Mamie C. Wideman, Rufus Hayes Clark, George Stewart Clark, Jr. and Grover Cleveland Clark,Sr. predeceased her.
Mrs. Claiborne was a caring loving and witty woman that will be remembered as a helper, a mother to all and a confidant to many. She loved her family, her church and her Lord and Savior. One of her favorite pastimes was WWF Wrestling and her wonderful cooking will be missed by many. Mrs. Claiborne was a cook at the Aunt Sarah’s Pancake House in Ashland for many years before retiring in the 1990’s.
Mrs. Claiborne is survived by her 10 children: Edmond L. Claiborne (Val), Raymond S. Shelton, Wilbur Lewis, Christine C. Howard, Salenda C. Taylor (Bernard), Darlene C. Taylor (Carroll), Melvin Claiborne, Jr., Phyllis C. Brown (Willie), Janice C. Foster (Stanley), Nicole C. Small (Cecil); 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 106 S James St. in Ashland on Tuesday, April 2nd 2013 from 11am until the time of services at 1:00pm with Pastor Michael Shannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruther Glen, VA.
