Linda Darlene Clark's Obituary
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Linda Darlene Clark, 77, went running on the streets of gold into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 17, 2023, surrounded by her family. Her loving husband of 60 years, Larry Duane Clark, was by her side.
Linda was the true definition of a mother with love and much devotion to Jeanette Ashby and her husband Tommy, Larry Clark, II and his wife Leigh Ann, and Jackquetta Funkhouser and her husband Ivan.
She loved her children, but she said being a Grandma and Great Grandma was the BEST! She prayed for and loved her grandchildren every single day. They are Casey, Quinn, Brady, Garrett, Kendall, Kason, Christian, Cameron, Cody, and Tyler. The light of her life were her five great grandchildren, Kinsley Kay (who preceded her in death), Millie Mae, RenLee Ray, Zach and Rainn. She often said, “I love my kids and grandkids but there is something special about these great grands!”
Linda’s life began in Great Cacapon, West Virginia on September 22, 1946. She was the youngest daughter of John and Nellie Whisner. Linda and her siblings have always had a strong sense of family and the importance of salvation and taking care of one another. They gather each year for a Whisner family reunion. She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Farris of Great Cacapon, West Virginia and June Alexander of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Linda considered Sandy Ritchie of Cumberland, Maryland to be another sister to her.
Linda’s passion in life was her family and Jesus. She was a homemaker most of her life and the best wife and mother anyone could ask for. She loved Kismet, card games, Scrabble, Dominos and Bible word search puzzles. She kept score in a notebook so she could remind her children and grandchildren who was the winner in times past and promised she would win again. She loved being outside watching hummingbirds, doing work in the garden, and preparing delicious meals. Her favorite season was fall and she loved to decorate for every holiday.
She loved her church family at Woodbine Assembly of God. Over the years she taught Sunday School, served in Women’s Ministries, and sang in the choir.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to Woodbine Assembly of God, 626 Rest Church Road, Clearbrook, Virginia 22624.
