Linda Renee Forman's Obituary
LINDA RENEE FORMAN, 66, passed away suddenly after arriving home the night of her birthday celebration. She spent her last day with friends being serenaded, praised, and loved on.
Born November 25, 1957, Linda was the daughter of the late Gail Maxine Shapiro and the late Richard Jacob Firestone. She is survived by her: daughter, Samantha (Jonathan) Parsell of Birmingham, AL; younger sister, Debra Firestone of San Francisco, CA; and younger brother, Jeffrey Firestone of Roseville, CA. Linda also created her own family everywhere she went, forming friendships that lasted decades. Most recently, living in Ashburn, VA, where she had many friend groups, wine group friends, and career accolades.
Linda spent her early life in St. Paul, MN, where she maintained close connections with those she loved. She then relocated and grew up in San Rafael, CA. Later, she graduated from San Rafael High School. Then attended San Francisco State University.
Linda’s impressive professional career in Information Technology started at the “birth” of the Internet back in the early 80’s. She began as a client success manager at Sprint (now T Mobile). She was promoted to team trainer and was quickly promoted as a national trainer for business and customer support representatives. In 1989, Sprint relocated her to Northern VA, where she eventually met and married her former-husband, Glenn Forman. Their marriage produced a beautiful daughter, Samantha.
Linda stayed with Sprint for several years and later worked for: Cable and Wireless, where she was promoted to marketing consultant and technical writer; Time Warner Cable, where she became a senior program manager for mobile applications; Collabera, as a senior program manager in charge or implementing wireless solutions worldwide; and lastly, Verizon, where she was responsible for the successful deployment of digital services nationwide.
Linda was highly regarded and highly respected by her leaders and her peers. Her excellent analytical and organizational skills aided her in acquiring additional responsibilities and led to her successful career as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and as IT Service Management (ITILF). She was a pioneer working in a male-dominated industry. She was assertive, courageous, resilient, and very capable.
Outside of work, Linda involved herself in many fun activities. She was part of a small group called Women Who Wine. She also participated in the Wine Enthusiasts Group, which is associated with the Women's Club of Great Falls, VA. She often went to dinners with friends and was a “second mom” to many. Having weekly dinners with Fran Dudley and Fran’s children Jonny and Katie.
Linda was strong. She survived medical surgeries, including for her heart, an intense break to the shoulder, and hip replacements, for which Linda put in tons of hard work to gain a new skip in her step. She was made anew. She traveled to Birmingham often to visit her daughter Samantha. Samantha and her husband “Jon” are expecting their first child, a baby girl, due this April. The baby will be named Violet Renee, sharing Linda’s middle name as well as the middle name of Jon’s mother Stephanie. Linda was so excited to be a grandmother. She leaves two pets: a dog “Baylor” and a cat “Chessie,” both taken into care by Samantha and Jon.
Linda left a legacy and was kind to everyone. Friends and family joke that she never sat still and that she was like the Energizer bunny, always going, and going. Linda consistently went the extra mile and poured support and care into everything she did. She will be forever missed. And her memory will be deeply loved.
