I received a note of Linda’s passing and was very surprised to learn of this. I had exchanged texts with her on April 4th as she had shared a sprout from a Christmas cactus the previous year. My plant although healthy had not bloomed the following year, not at Thanksgiving nor at Christmas. Finally, April first of this year, it bloomed proudly a lively shade of red rose. We laughed at the thought that she had shared an April Fool’s cactus. To think of her, I can see her pride of family and love of gardening. This little story of our friendship I hope makes her family smile and gives comfort. Ashby Jewelers of Manassas is another experience to share. Linda worked there for many years and her knowledge
of stones as well as her helpful attitude to assist clientele was a service that she enjoyed very much. Two small tales in the lifebook of a friend.
