Lois Lavon McElroy's Obituary
LOIS LAVON MCELROY, 90, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026.
Born on August 25, 1935 in Downs, Kansas. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Alanson Banks and the late Edna Pearl Frost Banks.
Lois attended Downs High School and graduated from Sterling College, Sterling, Kansas, with a degree in Elementary Education.
She was an elementary school teacher at First Baptist Church of Perrine, Florida Christian School and Kings Christian School in Miami where she retired in 2006. She touched the lives of many students with her kindness, patience, and unwavering faith. Miami was her home for over 60 years, a place where she built lifelong friendships and cherished memories before relocating to Virginia to be closer to her family.
Above all, Lois was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. She leaves to cherish her memory of her three daughters, Kristi (Vito) Germinario, Kerri (Paul) Douglass, and Kathi McElroy; her three grandsons, Sam (Michelle) Douglass, Drew Douglass, Jack Douglass; and her great-grandson, Daniel. Her love, guidance, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Lois’s life will be held at Stone Echo, home of Kristi and Vito Germinario in the Secret Garden, 18599 Calumet Lane, Bluemont, Virginia 20135 on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 11 am.
Graveside services will be held privately by the family at Ebenezer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lois’s memory to Middleburg Community Charter School.
