Lolitta D Polk's Obituary
Born on January 31, 1961, and raised in Leesburg, Virginia, Lolitta Denise Johnson Polk was strength wrapped in grace, love anchored in faith, and the steady heartbeat of her family. The cherished daughter of Paul Heywood Johnson and Gladys Barbara Young Johnson, she grew up off Sycolin Road, deeply rooted in church and community. She was nurtured at Sycolin Baptist Church and later served faithfully at First Mount Olive Baptist Church, where her devotion to God and family was evident in how she lived, loved, and led.
Lolitta was a fierce protector of her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. If you wanted to see what unwavering loyalty looked like, you only had to stand near her family. She was the glue that held everything together — a provider in every sense of the word. Whether she had plenty or just enough, she made a way. She gave. She covered. She showed up.
Her greatest love story began as a teenager at church when she met Angelo. High school sweethearts who dated all four years, they were married on January 19, 1980, in the basement of her in-laws’ home — humble beginnings to a grand love. For 46 beautiful years, they built a marriage rooted in friendship, laughter, faith, and deep devotion. Their song, “Always and Forever” by Heatwave, was more than music — it was their testimony. You could see it in their kitchen dances, their playful games of Go Fish, and in the diamond rings he would surprise her with just because. They were each other’s best friend, protector, and greatest gift.
She loved butter pecan ice cream, gospel and soul music filling the house, and spoiling her grandchildren beyond measure. She ran a tight ship with her children — firm, loving, and full of expectation. In her house, you would serve the Lord, you would know your history, and you would walk in purpose. She raised her children to be exactly who God called them to be — nothing less, nothing forced, nothing compromised.
For two years, she battled cancer with the same fire that defined her entire life. She fought like a warrior — with dignity, strength, and unshakable faith — all while continuing to hold her family together. Even in the fight, she was still the glue.
She loved.
She protected.
She prayed.
She served.
Now, she can finally put down her armor and rest.
Her earthly assignment is complete.
Though her hands are at rest, her legacy is alive in every life she shaped, every prayer she whispered, every value she instilled, and every note of gospel music that still echoes through her family.
“You did good, Lo.”
And we are so very proud of you.
She is cherished and lovingly remembered by:
