OBITUARY INFORMATION
LORRAINE G. OYNES, 90, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on March 11th 2011 in Leesburg. She was born in Plaza, North Dakota on August 2nd 1920 to the late Erick and Dagny Ellen Anderson Nelson who had come from Sweden. Her husband of 59 years Christian Oynes, two brothers, Russ Nelson and Gwendolyn “Bud” Nelson and two sisters, Marge Hamm and Ardyce Trail also predeceased her. She grew up on a farm in North Dakota, graduated from Plaza North Dakota High School in 1938 and then attended one year at Minot State Teachers College. Preceding WWII she moved to Southern California and worked at Hillgren Manufacturing until her marriage to Christian in 1946. She was a devoted homemaker. Mrs. Oynes was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Anaheim, CA for 50 years and then joined Our Saviors Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn, VA in 2008 when she moved to Leesburg. She was an avid crocheter and enjoyed baking but her true gift was caring for children. Throughout her life with great love and care she had opened her home to care for grandnieces, grandnephews and neighborhood children. Mrs. Oynes is survived by her two sons: Chris C. Oynes (Rena) of Leesburg, Curtis J. Oynes (Kathy) Sioux City, IA; three grandsons: Erick, Jonathan and John Curtis; a great grandson Liam Oynes and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg on Tuesday, March 15th 2011 from 6pm until time of services at 7:00pm with Pastor Bill Mann officiating. A second service will follow on Sunday, March 20th in California.
