Lorraine Moran Thornton
Lorraine Thornton of Leesburg, VA died on Wednesday September 22, 2010. She was 82 years old. Lorraine was born February 27, 1928 in Boston, MA. She received an RN from New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA in 1950, a BSN from Empire State College in New York in 1983 and a MSW from Adelphi University in New York in 1985. Mrs. Thornton was a Licensed Certified Social Worker for Hospice at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY until her retirement 1996. She moved to Leesburg in 2004.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years William M. Thornton, Jr., also of Leesburg and her two sons: William M. Thornton, III and wife Jane, of Vienna, VA and Charles G. Thornton, PhD and and wife Nina, of Damascus, MD; five grandchildren: Kim, Michelle, Leah, John and Annie and many friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held at 10:30am October 2, 2010 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 44600 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn VA 20147.
