Louise was wise, frank, supportive, caring, funny, irreverant, and so extremely generous! When Hope went off to high school, she and many of her classmates wanted to take guitar lessons with me, after having been in my guitar classes in middle school. Rather than teach them individually, Louise helped me launch the Ashburn Girls' Guitar Ensemble, AGGE. I did the teaching, Louise did all of the organizing and the business end. BRILLIANTLY. AGGE never would have happened without Louise. AGGE had a great 5-year run, playing at private parties, church services, Leesburg First Friday, concert series, vineyards...
What I cherish most about Louise is her guidance. She took me under her wing because Hope loved playing guitar, and Louise trusted me. I gave many a private lesson to Hope long into her high school years. Going to the Paccione home for Hope's lessons was always a total treat because there were dogs and food, humor and coffee, and LOVE.
Louise and I are both pet lovers -- dogs for her, cats for me. Louise was forever amused by my cat Vincent who would plant himself on the roof of her car or van whenever she came over. Louise was also so very kind the morning my cat Zoe was fading. She came to my house to drive me and Zoe to the vet for euthanasia. Only, Zoe died while Louise was on her way over. Louise sat with me while I petted Zoe. At one point I asked Louise, "Has she moved?" Louise said, "No, she hasn't." And then we drove Zoe to the vet for cremation.
Louise was a strong presence for so many of us. At Belmont Ridge MS, we knew Tuesdays would go well because Louise was volunteering in the front office and always knew what to do. I talked about AGGE above. I know, through Hope, that Louise was a supporter of manatee protection. She loved Disney! And she LOVED Titanic. When I arranged My Heart Will Go On for AGGE to play, Louise hosted a party at her house for AGGE to watch the movie. And the cake she got for us!! It had the Titanic on it.
And so, I will always remember Louise for her caring, generous, over-the-top presence. Her humor. Her outspokeness. A beautiful soul!
Love to Tom, Hope, Doug, Alex, et al.
With gratitude,
Jan
