Louise M. Lyons' Obituary
LOUISE MORAN LYONS, 81, of Leesburg, Virginia, formerly of Flat Rock, North Carolina and Wyckoff, New Jersey died on Tuesday, July 12th 2011 at her home with her family by her side. Mrs. Lyons was born September 19th 1929 in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late John F. and Mary Murphy Moran. She received her Bachelors in Chemistry from the College of Mount Saint Mary in Hooksett, NH. Mrs. Lyons married Daniel F. Lyons and raised four children before returning to college for further education. In her 50’s, she completed a course of study in computer programming, and began working at Oxford University Press in Fair Lawn, NJ. She later worked with International Wire in Wyckoff, NJ and Inman, SC. Mrs. Lyons loved family, conversation, and had a passion for education. Throughout her life she valued learning, kindness and travel. She was especially fond of family gatherings at the beach and wherever her family came together.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Daniel F. Lyons of Leesburg; four children: Ellen Lyons and husband Robert Harrison of Burke, VA, Dan Lyons, III and wife Carmel Wood of Waterford, VA, Jane Lyons of Burke, VA, Beth Lyons of Seattle, WA; four siblings: John Moran of Nashua, NH, Madonna Moran, RSM of Manchester, NH, Gabriel Moran of New York, NY, Dorothy Perkins of New Boston, NH; three grandchildren: Sarah Lyons-Harrison, John Lyons-Harrison, Daniel Lyons-Harrison and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Dan and Carmel’s home at 39842 Grassley Farm Lane, Waterford, VA 20197 on Sunday, July 17th 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Please join us comfortably dressed to enjoy stories of our families, our wonderful parents, and of our friendship. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church (Chapel of the Immaculate Conception) 231 North King Street in Leesburg, VA on Monday, July 18th 2011 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
