LOYS N. PETR
LOYS PETR (Graves) of Ashburn, VA, died after an extended illness on November 26, 2006, at her home surrounded by her family. Born May 18, 1933 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Thelma Graves. She stayed at home and raised her three children, and lived in Germany for a period of three years. She went back to work ending her career as a Specification’s Analyst with Moore Business Forms, a Government Contractor, retiring in 1995. As a young woman, she played league basketball and was fondly referred to as “Red.” The patients at Sibley Hospital were blessed with her services as a volunteer and she went about spreading her warmth and compassion to all those she met. She was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and was a season ticket holder for many years. Her hobbies included making special ceramic items for family and friends as well as creating individualized greeting cards that everyone looked forward to receiving. Surviving are her children and their spouses Carol Greenough (Jim), Paul Petr (Rhonda), and Ruth McDowell (John); grandchildren Kellie McDowell and Logan Collier; sisters Ruth Locke, Amy Hendrix, Judy Coleman (Joe); brother Bill Graves (Barbara); sisters-in-law Pauline and Doris Graves. Predeceased by brothers Jack, Bobby, and Gene Graves and brothers-in-law Jim Hendrix and Buddy Locke. Also survived by her Aunt Charlie (Norman) Levasseur, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as wonderful friends and fantastic neighbors. Family and friends will be received 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday, November 29, and 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Thursday, November 30, at Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA. Services will be held 11 am, Friday, December 1, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Loys’ name to American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd. Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852, for research or to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718
