Lou and Joan were not able to attend but you all were in our hearts. We both worked for Jack and we are proud of having the experience of knowing him and about him. Dear Fish Family,
We are sorry for your loss. Your dad had a long and full life, and he obviously made a difference in many peoples lives. You can all be proud of that. My own memories of your dad are that he always seemed quiet and even keel amid all the hectic activity that comes with a large family - ten girls(!) and two boys. I can see him still standing up on the hill at family day at the swimming pool always winning the prize for the largest family in attendance. I see him on the driveway sitting in the ever present VW teaching all those kids how to shift those gears, or loading up the VW bus for the family vacation to the beach.
He will be missed, but just know that he's in a better place now, and one day you will all see him again.

Talk about a life well lived – how many people’s lives were enriched because they knew or worked for Jack Fish. I remember how Mr. Fish (which is what I always called him) would come down to the cafeteria every day. He would find and empty seat at a table and would eat lunch with employees at all levels. He didn’t sit with the senior managers – he wanted to know all the people who worked for him. And when he asked you how you were, he truly wanted to know. Everyone, from the top level managers, to the laborers out in the field, would stop and talk to Mr. Fish – he was that approachable. What stands out in my mind more than anything is how much he enjoyed his work. He took pleasure in it every day. It’s a privilege to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. We all loved Jack and shall always be grateful that we had the opportunity to work with him.
He was a true gentleman with integrity, caring, love and a great sense of humor and Irish charm.

Jack Fish was a great National Park Service employee and supporter. His assistance to many of us in the Park Police has always been appreciated.
