Margaret Shine's Obituary
MARGUERITE C. SHINE “BUNNY”, 82, on Friday August 25, 2006 in Fair Oaks, Virginia.
Ms. Shine was born January 1, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Martin and Margaret McDonough Coulfield. She was an active member of the United States Navy Officers Wives Club while she was married to Capt. John Sweeny and led to her living many places including Naples Italy, Ecuador, California, Florida and Rhode Island. Ms. Shine was a master bridge player and had worked with many organizations over the years including, THIS for Diplomatic Families, Project HOPE in Washington DC, and as a Gray Lady at Alexandria Hospital. She had lived in Alexandria, Virginia since 1960 were she was a realtor with Long & Foster and received top sales awards until she retired in 1999. Ms. Shine was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria before moving in 1999 to Leisure World of Virginia and began attending St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia.
Ms. Shine is survived by her four children: Mark Sweeny of Vail, Colorado, Peter Sweeny of Purcellville, Virginia, Stephanie Micas of Richmond, Virginia, Marguerite Walsh of Paris, Virginia; two sisters: Rosemarie Russell of Washington DC, Lorraine Caulfield of Boston, Massachusetts; seven granddaughters: Rachel Micas, Claire Micas, Megan Carr, Kaitlin Chadwik, Lauren Alton, Hannah Sweeny, Mora Sweeny and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Reception will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Lansdown Resort 44050 Woodridge Parkway Lansdown, Virginia.
