Marguerite Shine's Obituary
MARGUERITE C. SHINE “BUNNY”, 82, on Friday, August 25, 2006 in Fairfax, Virginia.
Mrs. Shine was born January 12, 1924, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Martin Caulfield and the late Margaret Caulfield Shaughnessy. Mrs. Shine was an active member of the United States Navy Officers Wives Club while she was married to CAPT John Sweeny, USN. Life as a Navy family led to thirty-two residences in twenty years, including Naples, Italy; Quito, Ecuador; California; Florida; Texas; and Rhode Island. Ms. Shine was a Master bridge player and had worked with many organizations over the years including, T.H.I.S. for Diplomatic Families, Project HOPE in Washington, DC, and as a Gray Lady at Alexandria Hospital in Virginia. She had lived in Alexandria, VA, since 1960 where she was a realtor with Long & Foster and received top sales awards until her retirement in 1999. Ms. Shine was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA, before moving to Leisure World of Virginia in 1999 when she began attending St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg.
Ms. Shine is survived by her four children: Mark Sweeny of Vail, CO; Peter Sweeny of Purcellville, VA; Stephanie Micas of Richmond, VA; Marguerite Walsh of Paris, VA; two sisters: Rosemarie Russell of Washington, DC, and Lorraine Caulfield of Boston, MA; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Caulfield of Needham Heights, MA; and seven granddaughters: Rachel Micas, Claire Micas, Megan Carr, Kaitlin Chadwick, Lauren Altom, Hannah Sweeny, and Mora Sweeny; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Those who knew and loved Bunny are welcome to attend a memorial reception at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Lansdowne Resort Clubhouse, 44050 Woodridge Parkway, Lansdowne, VA.
