I met Marlene and Steve in August of 1992 when they purchased their new home on Wayside Circle. It was one month after we had moved into ours.
Over nearly 30 years, we developed a wonderful friendship. Marlene was a classy lady, who never allowed her MS to keep her back or down. I don’t believe I ever saw her sorry for herself. Marlene was always game to do and try things. She was so proud of her husband and daughters. And lest I forget, enjoyed and was proud of her precious grandchildren.
After I moved to San Diego, I stayed in touch and visited her when I was in Virginia. I had not spoken to her in a while but sent emails with photos. I had no idea she had declined and was in Adler Center. She had been fortunate to live with her daughter, Tanya, and had a full-time care giver at that Waterford home when I saw her about a year ago.
I missed her when I moved CA, and hearing of her passing, has me remembering so many wonderful times. She was one strong, caring woman.
God bless her and provide comfort to her family,
Susan Castellana
