Passed away peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Leesburg, VA. Marlene was born August 21,1938 in MontRose, MI the daughter of Keith R. Dennis and Catherine M. Smith (Vegh) and lived in the Kalamazoo/Gobles area for more than 50 years. She honorably served in the US Navy while stationed in the National Capitol Area. Marlene was an active member of St. Jude Parish for many years and enjoyed her activities as a Parish volunteer. She was comforted by the continuing support and love she received from St. Jude’s Parish. Surviving her are her children, Cathy Skiver of Richmond, MI, Frank Abbott of Fayetteville, NC, Dawn (Rob) Coulter of Leesburg, VA, Cecile (Mark)Thompson of Atlanta, GA and Mike (Carol) Abbott of Paw Paw, MI; 12 Grandchildren; 3 Great grandchildren and her nephews the Crosby’s. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, her son Keith , her son-in-law Mike Skiver and her sister Carol Crosby. Visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 PM, with a Rosary service at 7:30 PM, at the GOBLES CHAPEL, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday 11 AM at St. Jude Parish, Interment St. Margarets Cemetery in Otsego. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Parish.
