Mary "Betty" Elizabeth McNickle's Obituary
Of Arlington, VA, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at age 94.
Born in Champaign, Illinois, Betty was the oldest daughter of the late John and Rachel O’Byrne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lt. Gen. Marvin L. McNickle (USAF, ret.); a sister, Nell Ruth Shapland, and two brothers, John C. (Jack) and William T. (Fiery) O’Byrne.
Survivors include a daughter, Mollie McNickle Wheeler, and her husband, Rick; a son, Mark Leonard McNickle, and his wife, Dondie; two grandchildren, Susan Virginia Scott Wheeler and Nathaniel Copeland Wheeler; a sister, Rachael O’Byrne Sullivan, and a brother, J. Michael O’Byrne; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Fort Meyer chapel, followed by burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
