Mary DeVera's Obituary
On Monday, December 3, 2018, Maria Salome Villanueva DeVera, or Mary, loving wife and mother of three children, entered eternal life at age 71. Heaven just received one of the most special angels and she arrived wearing her favorite color, red.
Mary, as she was lovingly called, was born on July 26, 1947 in the Philippines to Honorata Villanueva. She received her elementary teaching degree from Roosevelt College in Marikina City. On December 20, 1970 she married the love of her life, Francisco Z. DeVera and moved to the United States where she lead a supportive role of service and sacrifice as a military wife and owned several businesses in Virginia. She and her husband raised two daughters, Mary Jean and Julie Anne and one son, Jeffrey.
Mary lived a very blessed life as she had a passion for faith, spending time with family, helping others, making a difference in many lives, traveling, cooking, playing mahjong and diamonds. She loved to see the world and all of God’s creation. She was an avid music lover and instilled that value in her children, offering music lessons to them and encouraging her grandchildren as well. She was known for her infectious smile, her happy and positive attitude and her kind and compassionate spirit. She was a very strong woman and was a fighter until her passing. She instilled many valuable lessons throughout her life to those close to her.
Mary will be reunited with her father, her mother and several siblings. She is survived by her wonderful, caring husband Frank, her three loving children and their spouses, Mary Jean and John, Jeffrey and Princess, and Julie Anne and Marc, a brother, a sister, many cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Philippines and seven beautiful grandchildren, Alan, Ethan, Jake, Jillian, Caleb, Aila and Adam. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Loudoun Funeral Chapel at 158 Catoctin Circle, S.E., Leesburg, VA and a Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA with interment to follow at National Memorial Park at 7483 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA.
