Mary Ellen Harding's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Ellen Harding, 91 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
Mrs. Harding was born on Sunday, November 5, 1922 in Leesburg, VA. A native of Loudoun, she was a daughter of the late John L. Carr and the late Louise Atwell Carr. Mary Ellen graduated from Leesburg High School.
As a young woman, during WWII, she worked for the Quarter Master’s Office in Washington, DC.
Mary Ellen met and married Rudolph I. Harding on October 26 1949.
She later worked as Assistant Post Master at the Ashburn Post Office, until she went to work for Loudoun County and worked as a Deputy Registrar until retiring.
Since 2010, Mrs. Harding resided at Meadow Glen Assisted Living in Leesburg; where she leaves a wonderful group of caregivers whom she so enjoyed.
In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers, Lewis Carr, and John “Buddy” Carr.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory her daughter, Judy Smith of Little River, SC, and her son, Jack and Melissa Harding of Ashburn, VA, two grandchildren, Cori and Casey Harding, extended family Rocky & Terry Smith of Boyce, VA, and a special companion, Yogi.
A Graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Leesburg Union Cemetery 323 North King Street, Leesburg, VA 20176, with the Pastor Louis Schwebius officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Capital Caring 2900 Telestar Court Falls Church, VA 22042; or to a charity of the sender’s choice.
