Mary Jane Stone's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Jane Stone was born at Ft. D.A. Russell, Wyoming on May 6, 1925 and passed away on September 10, 2016 at age 91.
Mary Jane married West Point graduate William Leete Stone III in 1949 in Tokyo, Japan. She and Bill were married for 65 years when he died in 2014.
She was the beloved mother of three daughters and a son: Elizabeth H. Stone (Marc Berman) of Northampton MA, William L. Stone IV of Cocoa Beach FL, Sarah A. Stone of Alexandria VA, and Susan S. Carson (John Carson) of Memphis TN. She had 11 grandchildren: William, Samuel and Julius Berman, Lila and William Stone, John, Caleb, Seth and Jared Carson, and Katherine and Sarah Hayden. She also leaves her nephew Terry O. Atkinson and nieces Catherine Dagg and Beth Atkinson.
As an Army daughter and Army wife Mary Jane lived in at least two dozen places. Her final home was at Falcons Landing in Sterling, VA where she lived happily with Bill for nearly 20 years among friends.
A private service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
