Maureen Finan (Reed) Brown 's Obituary
Maureen Finan (Reed) Brown age 79 of Charles Town, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Tuesday, May 25, 1937 in Queens, New York the daughter of late Edward and the late Margaret (King) Finan. She was also predeceased by her brother Edward Finan.
Maureen was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, West Virginia. She was employed by Loudoun County as Chief of Payroll and Benefits until her retirement in 1999. After her retirement from Loudoun County, Maureen started Gemini Consulting where she spread her love for payroll by educating others. Maureen was a pioneer in the payroll industry and the founder of the WMAC-APA. At a National level with the APA, Maureen received the Meritorious Service Award in 1986 and Payroll Woman of the Year in 1988. She was the APA President in 1999 and received the Board of Directors Award in 2005. The WMAC established the Maureen (Reed) Brown Education Grant in 2003 to honor their founder and first president. Maureen always prioritized her family first and will be missed by all that knew her.
Maureen is survived by her daughter Cindy and husband Kenny Hamilton as well as her son R. Thomas “Skip” and wife Lisa Jackson. Maureen was blessed with six grandchildren: Patricia, Crystal, Amy, Caitie, Brittny, and Kendra in addition to 4 great grandchildren: Luke, Olivia, Sophia, and Chandler.
A mass will be held 2:00PM on Thursday March 2, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church 49 Crosswinds Drive Charles Town, WV 25414. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until the time of the services. There will be a gathering at the church following the mass.
