MAX EUGENE MELLOTT's Obituary
MAX EUGENE MELLOTT, 80 of Leesburg, Virginia passed peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023.
One of seven children, Max was a son of the late Bretherd, and Lola Gale Ream Mellott; Born Sunday, January 17, 1943 in Needmore, Pennsylvania.
Perry Engineering, a construction / contract company brought Max to Leesburg in 1972. After many years there, he embarked on his own business venture, Cameron Enterprises, which was instrumental in the development of Market Station and other local building projects. Before his eventual retirement, Max had a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades with the Town of Leesburg, including roles as manager of the water department and Assistant Superintendent.
Max loved mountains and the outdoors and had a passion for carpentry, building heirloom furniture that would be passed on to his children. An active member of the community, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, a former president of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, and a parishioner of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
He leaves his family to cherish his memory including his son Scott C. Mellott and Denise Emery, his daughter Christina Lea and Kyle Zimmerman; his former wife Cynthia G. Mellott, grandchildren, Molly, Tyler, Sam, Camille, Claudia, and Sofia. He also leaves his sisters, Betty, and Linda.
In addition to his parents, Max is predeceased by four siblings: Lucille, Hillis, Eloise, and Jeniene.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia .
A Funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM on Friday, March 31, 2023 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Chapel of Immaculate Conception, located at 231 North King Street Leesburg, Virginia 20175 with the Father Kevin Larsen officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Max's memory to The American Lung Association.
