Meena Umesh Kashkari's Obituary
KASHKARI MEENA, age 69, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in Ashburn, Virginia.
Born September 12, 1954, in Uttar Pradesh, India to Jaya Kaul and Manohar Nath Kaul. Meena was raised in Varanasi with her three younger brothers, Ashok Kaul, Rakesh Kaul and Dilip Kaul and one elder sister, Asha Warikoo. She graduated in M.A. Economics from Banaras Hindu University and moved to Delhi after her marriage.
Along with Umesh, Meena lived in Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Roanoke, Scottsdale, Centreville, and finally Ashburn. She started her career as a school teacher in Varanasi and served as a high school teacher at Mulund High School in Bombay for 11 years.
Meena was extremely driven, spirited, hopelessly optimistic, persevering and disciplined. After moving to the US, she started her own daycare, one that she ran with a lot of love and care in Ashburn for 13 years. She combined her love for serving others and cooking to ensure each child received personalized attention and passionately served each one of them home-cooked meals.
She was also talented at sewing, knitting, was an avid painter during her years in Ahmedabad, and developed a love for gardening after retirement.
Growing up, Meena had always been religious and turned vegetarian at a very young age for religious reasons. Her service and devotion grew more resilient over time and in the last five years she devoted herself totally to the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris.
She lived life on her own terms, was strong-willed and a generous soul, she always thought well of others and prayed for everyone's well-being. She was a support system to her husband through highs and lows and a strong example to her daughter and loved ones.
She's survived by her husband, Umesh Kashkari, daughter Ujjwala Kashkari and son-in-law Rohan Luktuke.
