Mei-Yu Perng's Obituary
Mei-Yu Shaw Perng passed away in her sleep on October 7, 2023 at approximately 7 PM from chronic lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Taiwan on October 10, 1943, Mrs. Perng immigrated to the United States soon after college with the love of her life and husband, Shien-Sen Perng, when Dr. Perng earned a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Mrs. Perng went on to a successful career in government contracts accounting until retiring in the early aughts. Mrs. Perng enjoyed painting, nature, travel, and spending time with friends and family. A creative conservationist by nature, Mrs. Perng always upcycled objects that most people would throw out into usable household items. Mrs. Perng had a keen sense of humor and a deep sense of humility. She is survived by her husband; children Susan Perng Pan and Phillip Perng; son in law Jeffrey Pan; and grandchildren Virginia Pan and Jefferson Pan. She will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held 3-5PM on October 15, 2023 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel (158 Catoctin Cir SE, Leesburg).
