Melanese Ellington Cristwell's Obituary
Her Life Story
Once spoken words, remember me as you pass by! As you are now, once so was I. As I am now, you too shall be; therefore, prepare yourself to follow me.
Melanese was born in Pompano Beach, Florida to the parentage of the late Charles and Emma Hawkins Ellington. Melanese grew up in a large but happy home filled with joy and traveling across the United States and Canada. Melanese’s godparents the late Edgar and Minnie Goodrum of Pompano Beach played an integral part in her life as they watched her grow into adulthood. She would always say “Mom I love my Godparents. They give me everything, and I am truly blessed.” As a child, Melanese attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church, along with her future husband Darryl Cristwell’s family. Her current church family Cornerstone Chapel located in Leesburg , VA. Her educational path took her to Sanders Park Elementary, Coconut Creek Elementary, Margate Middle and Coconut Creek High School where she excelled in school and was captain of the cheerleading squad. Melanese attended Florida A&M University. She was enrolled in the (SBI) program where she excelled in her studies of business administration.
The love of her life, the late, Darryl Cristwell asked for her hand in marriage just before graduation. They were happily married for 40 years this past July. Sadly missed by her husband Darryl, her children Jordan, Andrew, Matthew, Michael and Victoria, extended family Thea, Derrick, and Bridgett. Grandchildren: Zane, and Jordan Micah.
Sisters and Brothers : Charles Jr (Wylene), Tanya (Tony), Carlton, Carlos, Julius (Tereena), Carelia,( David) Donnetta, Matthew(Mercedes) , Natasha, brother-in-law Henry Cristwell Jr, Uncles and Aunts: Shirley Barnes,Julius and Fannie Ellington, Marie Lovett, Dudley Knight, Cecil Hawkins (Kari Ann), Zachary Hawkins (Shane), Great Uncle Peter Lovett, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a special cousin Twannah Ellington , close family friend Nancy. Family Ties: Cristwell’s, Collins’,Taylor’s Hepburn’s, Perry’s, Lovett’s, McLemore’s, Shower’s, Johnson’s, Barnes’, Goodrum’s, Adams’, Nixon’s and many more family members too numerous to list.
Melanese‘s life story closed by two of her sisters repeating the 91st Psalms, 23rd Psalms and singing How Great Thou Art. The last chapter was closed by a family friend brushing her long beautiful hair and her husband Darryl saying how much he loved her silently as she took her flight quietly and peacefully.
