Melvin Francis Carroll Jr.'s Obituary
On Thursday, October 6, 2022, Melvin Francis Carroll, Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 82, in Leesburg, Virginia. A Washington DC native, he attended Bladensburg High school and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. Melvin served as a firefighter for the District of Columbia for 31 years rising to the rank of 3rd Battalion Chief. He retired in 1994 and established his own roofing company. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, gardening and dancing with his wife. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Florence Carroll. Sons, Jay Carroll, Michael Carroll (Shelly), and Kevin Cox (Nancy), sisters, Julia "Metzi" McWilliams, Dora Gibson, and Sandra Estes (Brian), and grandchildren, Michael, Julia, Kelly, Riley, Bryan, and Finley. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Vivian Darnielle and Melvin Carroll Sr. and loving stepmother Betty Carroll Orndorff.
Melvin was a hard working wonderfully giving man. Through cooking amazing meals, he expressed his love for others, both for the fire department and his family. The first to offer assistance to anyone, he had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia.
