Michael John Coyne's Obituary
Michael John Coyne, of Ashburn, Virginia, beloved husband, father, and friend, died at home on Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was 83.
Michael was born on July 15, 1933, in Newton, Kansas, to Bernice (Brush) and Roscoe Coyne. After serving in the Army in Korea and Japan, he attended the University of Colorado and American University, Washington, D.C., where he received his Ph.D. in International Relations in 1965. He spent his career in the federal government.
Michael had an inquiring, intellectual nature, and in his later years most enjoyed leading discussions on Proust and The New Yorker Round Table at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. He will be greatly missed. Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Coyne, his sister, Juliet Johnson, nine children and step-children (Katherine Coyne, Ruth Polishuk, Mary Coyne, Diane Polishuk, Anna Toney, Ellen Polishuk, John Polishuk, John Coyne, and Edward Polishuk), eighteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Coyne, and granddaughter, Stefanie Coyne. A memorial visitation organized by Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia, will be held Saturday, September 10, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
