I am so sad and sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. He and I had Birthdays very close as mine is 2/27/61..He was my classmate at Sacred Heart and Massena Central HS. My sweet memory was when we were in 6th grade. Sr Patricia announced the winners of the Massena Fire Dept coloring contest and Michael had won it! The award was engraved with the Fire Depts initials and he laughed since they were his as well! RIP MFD!! (Wondering if he still had his award after all these years?) I’ll remember him as quiet, sweet and cute...and awesone at coloring! :-) God Bless you all!:pray::raised_hands:

My family has so many fond and funny memories of growing up 2 doors down from the Derby's. There was always some kind of nonsense happening between our two homes - with their 5 and our 6, there were a lot of kids to cause trouble! Mike was one of the nicest, wittiest, and kindest boys. My heart breaks to hear of his passing. On behalf of my family and my siblings, I am sending the family only love and prayers and the best of our shared memories. Sometimes I wish we were all kids again ...

I am so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. He was a special friend to me, kind and thoughtful. I will always cherish the many memories we shared especially during our time at Potsdam. He made a beautiful cedar chest, as a wedding gift, for my husband and I, a gift that is very special to me. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family. I remember when the Derby's moved to Star Lake and then all the bonfires sitting around just talkin having some beers and having fun Mike and I could always talk I loved him like a brother he was a special guy and will be missed by all...RIP my friend
