Mike and Mary Ellen, we are so sorry for your loss.
Because of Michael we have a beautiful mountain and....soon.....our dream home. So in a way, we are another one of Michael's great legacies! Please know that when we soon sit on our back porch and look at your home across the creek on the hilltop, we will be thinking of and praying for you all and for Michael and his children.
We never had the pleasure of meeting Michael however if he is as wonderful as you are, he was an angel on this earth.
We love you, and soon we will only be a cow or two away.

It was with great sadness that I learned this morning of Michael's passing. My prayers are with Mary Ellen, Mike and Kelly as well as Michael's entire family and his many friends at this time. I was stunned and incredibly saddened to hear this news. Mike and I have the same birthday, and I have known him, Shelagh and the kids for almost 25 years. While I could not attend his services, I am thinking of him and praying for peace for his parents, Kelly and the rest of the family.
I have many fond memories of Mike who was always with a big smile, hearty laugh and goofy humor. Memories of a few trips to the bay, times in Arlington and D.C. with Shelagh and the time he carried my wedding cake in from the caterer's car in Warrenton and almost fell down a hill with it. Good thing he's so quick on his feet. I will never forget him coaxing me to finish my first 5k run by passing by me saying there would be bacon at the finish line! So Mike.
I am truly heartsick for Chloe and Harry. Be with grace, Shelagh.

I knew Mike from high school, on sports teams together, and various social occasions. We shared some fun times, and I'm very sorry to hear that he has passed.
I also now see that he has the same birthday as my brother Michael, who died many years ago together with a mutual friend, Scott Kidwell. You are all in my thoughts.
