Mike Green's Obituary
Mike Green, 73, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011 after a courageous 5-year battle with lung cancer.
A native of Loudoun County, Mike was born on May 4, 1938 in Middleburg, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Grace Green, also Loudoun County natives. Mike was an active volunteer at Middleburg Fire and Rescue for many years before moving to Leesburg in 1980. He worked at Tysons Jeep for 32 years.
Mike leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Barbara Green; his only-child, Kelly Green Wing; son-in-law, Kevin Wing; and his two cherished grandchildren, Brandon (10) and Lauren (5). He loved spending time with his family, including his beloved dog, Winnie, who was at his side until the end. Mike was one of 11 children and leaves behind 5 loving sisters, Faye Wyne, June Costello, Joyce Cornwell, Alice Costello, and Bertha Gray, all residing in Fauquier County, and his dear cousin who was like a brother, Bobby Green, of Fairfax, Va. Mike had many nieces and nephews and was a good friend to many. His quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Leesburg Community Church, 835 Lee Avenue, SW Leesburg on Thursday, October 20 at 5:00 pm. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
