Mildred Ward Printz's Obituary
Mildred Allen Ward Printz, 98 of Potomac Falls, VA passed on Thursday, September 24, 2015, after a brief illness.
Mildred was born on April 2, 1917 in Centerton, NJ. She was the third of six children born to the late Charles Harry Ward, Jr. and Alma Hitchner Ward, of Centerton, NJ.
She was a graduate of the National School of Fine and Applied Arts, Washington, DC with a major in Commercial Art and Fashion Illustration. She pursued a successful career as a commercial artist in Washington, DC, Philadelphia and New York.
She married Robert Leonard Printz, Jr. of Luray, VA and Washington, DC. They lived in Washington, DC, Norfolk, VA, Mobile, AL, Brooklyn, NY, Arlington, VA, McLean, VA and Potomac Falls, VA.
The McLean artist worked in a variety of mediums, and developed her own style in Monotypes, which have won numerous awards. She also liked the fresh vitality of watercolors to better capture nature. She has exhibited in many galleries and juried shows throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She was a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, McLean Art Society, McLean, VA and the Vienna Arts Society, Inc, Vienna, VA.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her daughter, Bonnie Allen Printz of Baltimore, MD and her son Barry Edward Printz of Atlanta, GA, in addition to two granddaughters, Kalika Gorski and Elektra Gorski.
A memorial service will be at noon, Wednesday, Sept.30, 2015, Falcons Landing Chapel, 20522 Falcons Landing Circle, Potomac Falls, VA 20165.
