Mildred May Loy's Obituary
Mrs. Mildred May Loy, 100 of Lucketts, VA, died on Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Loudoun Nursing & Rehabilitation where she lived since 2002.
Mildred was born on Thursday, April 21, 1910 in Lucketts, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late William Compher and the late Effie Williams Compher.
Years ago, Mildred worked at the Point of Rocks Post Office, in Point of Rocks, MD.
She worked with her Father keeping toll at the Point of Rocks Bridge.
In 1932, she married her husband James Loy. They owned and operated Glynn Tarra Farm in Lucketts, VA.
Mrs. Loy was an active lady in her long life. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver. For many years, she was a member of the Lucketts Fire Company Auxiliary, an active member of Furnace Mountain Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was Treasurer of Furnace Mt. Sunday School from April 1939 until December 1997.
Mildred’s husband James passed away in 1989. She was also predeceased by her brother Leon Compher, and grandson, James Glynn Moreland in 1995.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey & William Moreland of Leesburg, VA; 1 granddaughter, Tarra Lynn Sullivan and her husband Raymond Sullivan of Lucketts; 2 great grandsons, William Anthony Sullivan of Leesburg and James Raymond Sullivan of Lucketts.
A Funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday evening, July 16, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175.
The family will receive guests prior to the services from 6 to 7 pm.
Graveside services and Interment will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 10:45a.m.at Furnace Mountain Cemetery, Lucketts, VA.
