Moska P. Stratis 's Obituary
Moska (Paravalos) Stratis, of Potomac Falls, Virginia, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. She was 82.
Moska was born in the port city of Piraeus, Greece, on November 28, 1935.
In 1963, Moska married Peter J. Stratis and immigrated to the United States. They initially resided in Elmhurst, New York, before moving to Cranbury, New Jersey, where Moska resided for most of her life.
A devout Orthodox Christian, Moska was a devoted steward of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Dulles. She was a person of deep faith, which truly defined her throughout her life. One of her cherished possessions was her Orthodox prayer book; the pages of which are literally worn from use. She took great measure to pass along the teachings of her faith to her children and grandchildren.
Moska will be remembered fondly as a loving and caring woman who found happiness in the smaller things in life and who tried to make things better for others. She also had an appreciation for cooking, took pride in being a homemaker, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. In addition, Moska enjoyed taking long walks with Peter, especially through the quaint town of Cranbury.
Moska was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Peter. She was a devoted mother to, and survived by, two daughters, Maria Apockotos (Stratis) of Tampa, Florida; and Vasiliki Kaffes (Stratis) of Ashburn, Virginia; and a loving grandmother to three grandchildren, Peter, Christina, and Maria. She is predeceased by a sister, Theologia Karlos (Paravalos).
A viewing and funeral service will be held Thursday, September 13, 11 a.m. at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 21580 Atlantic Blvd., Building D, Unit 160, Dulles, Va., 20166. Interment will be at Leesburg Union Cemetery, 323 N. King St., Leesburg, Va., 20176.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution in her name be sent to the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 21580 Atlantic Blvd., Building D, Unit 160, Dulles, Va., 20166.
