Nancy Carter Merritt's Obituary
Beloved wife and mother, Nancy Carter Merritt, 67, of Purcellville, Virginia passed away peacefully at home among family on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Nancy was born on Wednesday, November 10, 1948 in Warrenton, Virginia. A native of Fauquier County, she grew up in Marshall, Virginia, the youngest child of the late Leo Wellington Carter and the late Irene Conner Carter.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Fredric Scott Merritt, her loving daughters, Kelly Kristin Merritt and Kristi Waters Randall, and grandson Chancellor A. Randall. The youngest of eleven children, Nancy is also survived by four sisters: Marguerite Fenlon of St. Augustine FL, Doris Russell of Crozet VA, Darlene Crosson of Harrisonburg VA, and Beverly Pickens of Ware Neck VA. She was preceded in death by six cherished brothers and sisters: Paul Carter, Julian "Buck" Carter, William "Bill" Carter, Maurice Carter, Verna Poe, and Mary Vest. She was also preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Peyton R. Randall.
A celebration of life will be planned privately by the family in November.
