Nobu Michimata Hollar's Obituary
Nobu Michimata Hollar, 86 of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29th ,
2022.
Nobu was born on October 13th , 1935 in Hokkaido, Japan. She was the oldest daughter of the late Kota
and Kiyoko Michimata.
She married her husband, Marvin Hollar, in 1956 while he was stationed in Japan
during his military service in the United States Army, before later returning with their family to Ohio.
Nobu was a loving wife, mother, and grandparent. She spent over thirty five years as a server at
Tachibana restaurant in McLean, Virginia, and was an active member of the Northern Virginia Soka
Gakkai International (SGI) center, a community-based Buddhist organization that promotes peace and
respect for the dignity of life.
Nobu was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marvin Hollar, and her son, Edward Hollar. She
is survived by her daughter, Margaret Hollar; granddaughters, Melonie Tibbs, Cecilia Marshall, Katharine
Hollar, and Alexandra Quist; and great-grandchildren, Breauna Marshall, Kamryn Tibbs, Harper
Schwartz, Jack Schwartz, Ayour Alla, and Henri Quist.
Nobu will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
