Nora K. Hough's Obituary
Nora K. Hough, 91, of Leesburg, VA went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Heritage Hall in Leesburg Virginia.
Born on August 29,1933 in Jonesville, Virginia. She was the daughter of Lester and Ollie Kinser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Eugene Hough, sister Willie M. Carter, and Son-in-Law Roy D. Ott.
She is survived by her sisters Mary E. Lickey of Ashburn, Virginia, Betty J. Lettire (John) of Frederick, Maryland, and daughters Dorothy H. Fry (Howard), Leesburg, Virginia, Rebecca H. Ott, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, and Nancy H. Kimmer of Wesley Chapel, Florida. She is also survived by granddaughters Susan M. Fry, of Leesburg, Virginia, Sarah G. Ott, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Samantha R. Kimmer of Hutchison, Kansas, great granddaughter Lillian Nora Brewer of Hutchison, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
Nora moved to Loudoun County when she was five years old with her father, mother, and little sister Willie. Nora was a long-time employee of the A&P Grocery Store in Leesburg, Virginia, working from the day the store opened until the day the store closed. During her career at A&P, she won several awards including cashier of the year several times. Customers were her friends, and most customers wanted to be in Nora’s line, even when other registers were available. She retired from the A&P Grocery Store in Berryville, Virginia.
Nora was also a member of the Loudoun Baptist Church. Nora was a familiar friendly face in Leesburg. In addition to A&P, she worked at several Leesburg stores, including Rohr’s Five and Dime, Edwards Drug Store, IGA Grocery Store and Lee’s Grocery Store.
Nora loved to cook and work in her flower gardens. She also loved to embroider and enjoyed making pillowcases, scarves, and tablecloths for loved ones at Christmas. Nora loved to collect anything related to owls, from owl cookie jars, owl stuffed animals, owl shower curtains, Owl Christmas ornaments, to owl shaped cookie cutters.
The family will hold a graveside funeral service at Union Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024 with Pastor Ron Owens officiating.
