Ola E. "Genie" Johnson's Obituary
Ola E. “Genie” Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2014, in Leesburg, Virginia.
Ola was born on Saturday, June 2, 1928 in Piedmont, West Virginia. The youngest of six children, she was the daughter of the late Lewis S. Green and the late Ola Fazenbaker Green.
Affectionately referred to as Genie, she grew up, met and married her husband, Charles L. Johnson, in 1947 and started a family in Piedmont, WV.
In 1966, the couple moved to Frostburg, MD to manage the Happy Hills Farm and Restaurant; which continued for thirty years.
In the late 90’s they retired to Grantsville, MD. Following the passing of Mr. Johnson in 2002, Genie moved to Leesburg to live with her beloved daughter and family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Johnson is predeceased by her five siblings, Louis Eldred Green, Byron Edward Green, James Griffith Green, Susan Elizabeth Ross, and Mary Louise Evans; and her son-in-law, Fred Rounds.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her daughter, Linda Rounds of Leesburg; her sisters-in-law, Joanne Johnson of Piedmont, WV and Ruth Brown of Detroit, MI; two grandchildren, Stephanie Rounds (Gary Gieseman) of Brunswick, MD and Carrie (Tom) Correia of Seattle, WA; 4 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, eight “Genie Mom kids”, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Graveside services and interment will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens located at 11128 Cash Valley Road, NW Cumberland, MD 21502.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leesburg Senior Center, 102 North Street, NW, Leesburg, VA 20176 or to Freedom Alliance, 22570 Markey Court, Ste. 240, Dulles, VA 20166.
