Olive Farmer Payne's Obituary
OLIVE FARMER PAYNE, 85, of Lovettsville, Virginia, died on December 15, 2010, in Leesburg, VA. Mrs. Payne was born December 10th 1925 in Northampton, England to the late Francis and Alice Bennard Farmer. Her husband Thomas Blackful Payne and several siblings also predeceased her. She served in the British Women’s Land Army during the second world war and was one of approximately 100,000 GI war brides who left the United Kingdom. Mrs. Payne was a member of St. James United Church of Christ in Lovettsville and belonged to the Lovettsville Home Makers Association during the 1950s and 60s. While Olive was wheel chaired confined for over 35 years, she always had a positive outlook and a loving smile for everyone.
Mrs. Payne is survived by her three sons: Keith R. Payne of Purcellville, VA, John T. Payne of Brunswick, MD, Phillip M. Payne of Knoxville, MD; two sisters and two brothers of Northampton, England; numerous grandchildren including Michael, Scott, Keith, Heather, John and Mary as well as great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Friday, December 17, 2010, at the Brown/ Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 34 East Broad Way in Lovettsville from 2:00pm until time of services at 3:00pm with Rev. Roland England officiating. Interment will follow in Lovettsville Union Cemetery.
