Pamela M. Simmons' Obituary
Pamela (Penny) Markland Simmons, 79, of Leesburg, VA passed away peacefully on Thursday, May, 29, 2024.
Born in Besoco, West Virginia. She was the Daughter of Leonard Charles Markland and Etta Mayse Markland. She had a sister Barbara (Deceased) and is survived by a brother Leonard (Rusty) Markland.
Penny found her true love and married him 48 years ago and is survived by Mark Simmons. She claimed all the children from both families as her own and they felt she was their Mother and Mammie, Mamie or Mammy. The kids all had their way of spelling. The children were Angela Buracker, Guy (Diane) Dinkins, Todd Dinkins, Tanya Evers and a grandson that was raised by her named Joshua Kephart. The nine grandchildren Elizebeth(Deceased), Christopher(Deceased) Jessica, Westley, Courteney, Kaitlin, Jasmine, Tanner, Ava and 5 great grandchildren Sean, Deaglan, Mavis, Faolan and to carry on her name Penny. She also had a niece she claimed, Ali Curran (Dan) and her 4 boys Dane, Jett, Boone and Cade.
Penny found a profession in life she loved and fit her caring and loving passion perfectly. She became a registered nurse and worked at Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg for almost 20 years and then for close to 10 years at hospice of Northern Virginia. While at Hospice she went on 3 Volunteer trips to foreign countries to work with the poor that couldn’t get medical attention. She went to India and to Peru 2 times.
She will be missed by many family and Friends that she met over the years. That beautiful smile is now in heaven and in no more pain.
