Pat and I were great buddies as freshman at Nebraska in 1957-58. He took me to his family home in Omaha on several weekends, which I vividly remember. I recall he had mono in the fall of 57 so he didn't play on the freshman team. We used to have these card tricks that we would demonstrate to the girls in the various sororities. Our training table was closed on Sundays so we would bet the girls a Sunday dinner if we could tell them the name of the card they chose; we won every time. Later I was in contact with Pat a few times when the CIA brought me back to D.C. from the Middle East and Pat was with the Redskins. Not only was Pat a great football player, but a smart, good man and a great friend.

Sorry for your loss. My father was Jim Champion, who was a defensive coach for the St. Louis Cardinals with Pat and often spoke of him as a person and a player.
I just wanted to send my sincerest sympathies on behalf of my dad, Jim Tait. My dad and your dad were the best of buddies while in memory care at Walton Woods (WW). Back in the day, my dad was the number one "Super Fan" of the Redskins. He had season tickets for decades and loved football his entire life. When we learned that "the great Pat Fischer" had became a resident at WW, we, the family, were just tickled!! There was some comfort in that for us. We were also glad to see that they quickly became best friends. They were soon eating their meals together and Pat would often come visit with dad in his room. In reality, Dad couldn't remember that Pat had been a Redskin Player. He simply thought they played football together in HighSchool! They were cute together and I know that my dad misses your dad very much--even though, sadly, he can't remember! Wishing you peace at this difficult time.

I was at Westside w/Pat and a good friend. He lived in the basement of Countryside Village, while attending Westside, which is still a viable shopping. He ALWAYS was such a MOST special person + GREAT at all sports especially Basketball too + halfback w/Terry Kizer who became an actor (weekend w/Bernie.
My heartfelt prayers and sympathies go out to Pat Fischer and his family and friends. Your Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and friend, was one of the most pleasant and positive men I have ever met. Pat you were a friend to all who knew you, and treated everyone as a professional, when in fact, you were the admired professional while on the 🏈Field, and for the many years after your playing days were over. Thank you for being the consummate professional and man that you are and were…you will be missed. God Bless You and Your Family as you leave your home on earth for a Better Home in Heaven. Your friend, Dominick Pilli
Sending a big hug to all of Pat’s family💕. He was one of a kind and to know him was to love him! Our family has so many great memories of our boys playing baseball in the 80’s … Pat always had a smile on his face and was so genuine in every way. Butch thought the world of Pat… and I have no doubt he was there to greet Pat when he came through those Pearly Gates! My heart goes out to all his sweet family…. God bless… and cherish all your wonderful memories💕
I never met Pat but I saw him play in the NFL many times. As one of those under 6 ft guys myself who played high school ball in the 1970s I studied him and learned quite a bit about the game and leverage. My sympathy goes out to his family. He will be missed and I hope his memory will be a blessing.
My father and I were fortunate enough to see Mr. Fisher play at RFK stadium in 1969 against the Dallas Cowboys. We were devoted fans of Mr. Fisher. I left Loudoun County in 2016 or I would surely be there to pay my respects. My father passed from Covid in 2020. I am sure he will be in heaven to welcome Mr. Fisher there.
It was 1973 and I was a senior in a local high school trying to make the varsity team as a defensive back standing all of 5'9" and 160 lbs....
At the time Pat Fischer was a DB for the Washington Redskins. Because of his tenacity and hard play it gave me the incentive to perform the same as he did to make the team, which I did. He was my idol and at that time I couldn't ask for a better role model in life as well! Thank you Pat for encouraging me and others in life to strive for the best in it!
