PAUL GORDON BANKES's Obituary
Paul Gordon Bankes, age 60, passed away on October 28, 2022, after a long and valiant struggle with multiple health issues.
Paul was born in Berwick, PA, to Carolee (Erb) Bankes and the late Paul G. Bankes, Jr. He graduated from Berwick High School and received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Penn State University.
After graduating from Penn State, Paul joined the US Army, where he served for four years. While based at Field Station Augsburg in Germany, Paul taught himself how to write computer programs.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Paul was employed at the Department of Labor, where he spent the last 33 years, both as a contract worker and as a federal employee. He greatly appreciated the many friends he made throughout his years there.
In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Bethany Bankes, and his brother, Brian L. Bankes.
Paul is survived by his mother, his wife, Elizabeth, his son Christopher, daughter Tacy, and granddaughter Vihaney.
The family will receive friends, for a memorial visitation, on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 2 to 4 pm, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation or Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
