Paul Everett Schwartz's Obituary
Paul Everett Schwartz, 94, of Silver Spring, Maryland died Thursday, December 20, 2012 under the loving care of his family and hospice at Falcons Landing in Potomac Falls, Virginia. Paul was born March 18, 1918 in Springfield, Ohio. He is the son of the late John Joseph and Mildred Placke Schwartz. He was predeceased by his first wife Mildred Coffey Schwartz and second wife, Margie Wynn Harris Schwartz. He is survived by his beloved son, John Everett Schwartz and wife Penny of Leesburg, VA; two grandchildren, Christine Schwartz Feit and husband Douglas of Ashburn, VA, and Peter Schwartz and wife Jennifer of Fairfax, VA; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Michael; two step grandchildren, William H. Martin III of Leesburg, VA and Elizabeth Ann Belfi and husband Joseph of Redondo Beach, CA and one step great grandchild, Jake.
Paul proudly served his country in the Navy during WW II retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his military service he was an engineer and contract officer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD. For many years Paul was active in the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW). Paul was also an active member of the Leisure World retirement community in Silver Spring serving on the board of directors. Paul’s most important affiliation was with the Leisure World Inter Faith Chapel where he sang in the choir and served in many capacities over the years as a caring and generous servant of God. In Paul’s earlier life he was an active musician; playing the piano and saxophone and singing in amateur barbershop quartets and choruses. He enjoyed golf, bridge, traveling, baking pies and especially his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Leisure World Inter-Faith Chapel, 3680 South Leisure World Blvd., Silver Spring, MD 20906. A private burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
