Paula Lynn Steves' Obituary
Paula Lynn Steves passed on July 20, 2016 following a brief illness. Born in Washington, DC on June 3, 1948, Paula traveled and lived all over the country and the world alongside her husband Bob as part of his military deployment. They met in Germany and married in upstate New York 50 years ago this October.
A woman of many talents, Paula worked in a variety of jobs, from German Distillery, private catering to club manager, but always with an emphasis on hospitality, with her love of cooking and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. When Bob retired from the military in 1985, they took up residence in the home that had formally belonged to Paula’s father in Lovettsville, Virginia. This allowed her the opportunity to once again have horses in her backyard, trail riding and showing her Arabian horses
Paula continued her culinary career and retired from the Xerox National Conference Center in 2012. She savored her retirement, spending more time camping at Solomon Island Naval Recreation Center, boating and fishing. Her devoted dogs, Bailey and Monica were never far away.
Paula leaves behind her husband Robert Steves, siblings Pamela Bloxton and her daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Cantando and Mary Daisy Hicks, William Ashby Bloxton, 3rd and his daughter, Ashley Bloxton, Wade Bloxton and Leon Paul Sisson, along with many friends whose lives she touched and enriched. Her easy smile and contagious laugh will be missed and remembered. A service is being planned with inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
