Philip Hahn's Obituary
PHILIP YAWMAN HAHN, 81, of Purcellville, VA, died in Naples, Florida March 29, 2008. He was born in Rochester, NY November 17, 1926. Mr. Hahn graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School. He served his country in the US Navy as a Lieutenant JG in the early 50''s. Early in life as a resident of Rochester, he worked for the family company, Crosman Arms until he bought the Payne Drug Company. In the early 80''s he moved to Washington, DC starting Higher Education Publication with his cousin, Fritz Hafner. He soon moved to Purcellville, Virginia where he established the Blue Ridge Leader with other Purcellville businessmen. He took over the paper several years later and was editor and publisher until the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Simpson of Purcellville; brothers Stephen Hahn of St. Petersburg, Fl and Peter Hahn of Rochester, NY; sisters Joan Sheldon of Stuart, Fl and Sara Kennedy of Pittsford, NY; 4 children from his first marriage, Martha (Bill) Treece of Shirley, Arkansas, Elizabeth (Brian) Moran of Marblehead, MA, Catherine Anthony of Naples, NY, and Philip Y (Kris) Hahn, III of Rochester, NY; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and his beloved Jack Russell terrier, Sadie.
On Saturday April 5, 2008 at 11:00am a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church, Purcellville, VA. Interment will be private.
